Cracks (2018)

Natural cracks in a building become an ever-changing weather system, triggered by the audience. Their movement takes us from the past to the present and makes them active in the change of the landscape. Thunder becomes music and lightning the traces of movement and wear within the building itself. This concept refers to the Japanese practice of Kintsukuroi or ‘golden repair’ whereby broken pottery is joined and reinforced using adhesive mixed with gold, silver or metallic powder. The flaws and breakages are preserved in this method of repair, becoming visibly reinforced traces of history.
